It is with heavy heart that i must announce the passing of the great Cuban legend, Mr. Alfredo Chocolate Armenteros. Born April 4, 1928 in Santa Clara, Cuba. He came to the U S. In 1957 with Jose Fajardo and stayed here ever since. Tremendous trumpet and flugelhorn player, composer, arranger. Former member of his cousin Beny More's Band. Worked with so many of the great ones, including Celia Cruz, Sonora Matancera, Larry Harlow, Machito, Eddie Palmieri, Charlie Palmieri, Cachao, John Santos, Ismael Rivera, Henry Fiol, Tito Puente and more. I will prepare a tribute in his honor on Salsa Empire Radio and on Latin Flavor.
On May 10, 2014, Chocolate came to DC as a special guest of Nancy Alonso to celebrate Nancy's 15 year anniversary on the air on the Latin Flavor Show Salsa Dura Edition.   Chocolate took to the stage along with veteran singer Frankie Vasquez with Edwin Ortiz and La Romana with Albert Sanchez.   Enjoy the photo gallery below.  Video coming soon.
